North and South Minneapolis Donation Drive
We are hosting another donation drive for North and South Minneapolis. Attached is the promotional posters. The supplies listed are the most urgent needs. We are also looking for volunteers to assist in collecting donations during the drop off times at the Chapel Door.
I am writing once again to ask if any of you are able to:
-To please spread the word, Trinity will email/Facebook this out to our community but the need is great. The donation sites we are supporting run out of supplies each day as they function as the only grocery store/basic supply stores in the area. Any monetary donations we collect support a shopping trip in our area to purchase more supplies for the immediate need.
-Contact me via phone/text if you would be willing to assist with a shift to greet (social distanced and with masks please) those who drop off donations at our chapel entrance and if needed place them in the Chapel. Bring a lawn chair and hang out outside the door for whatever shifts you may cover. We will have signs that can be placed on the lawns and we ask that donations be sorted into food and non-food items.
We have three shifts June 25, 26, and 27th on Thursday 3-6p.m., Friday 3-6p.m., and again Saturday, 9a.m. - 12p.m... Please only volunteer for this if you are able, comfortable with serving, and not putting yourself or those you care for at significant risk in light of Covid-19.
-Contact me via phone/text if you might be willing to be a driver to drive donations up to on the morning of Monday, June 29th to either Gethsemane or Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. I can share instructions with whoever may be interested. Holy Trinity's drop off site is drive-up and contactless and Gethsemane's drop off site is also fairly low contact.
Last week I dropped off donations collected in Albert Lea to the parking lot of a Cub Foods that was burned and destroyed. It was shared with me that the destroyed Cub is the only major grocery store for five miles and many do not have access to transportation. The multiple 6 foot tables set up with donations in the parking lot is now their grocery store for the foreseeable future. I have yet to hear if Cub will rebuild. Thank you for your generous response with our first drive and I hope with a few extra days notice we will be able to be generous once again to help people in such tough times.
